What is DeepPeace CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-intrusive osteopathic method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the cranial sacral system. This physiological system of the body is comprised of membranes and the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. CST improves the function of the central nervous system by releasing restrictions in it. CST can be effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with chronic pain and dysfunction as a result of conditions such as lupus, fibromyalgia, migraines, autism, scoliosis, chronic fatigue, TMJ, learning disabilities (LD, ADD, ADHD) and sleep disorders. It can also be beneficial to victims of traumatic head and spinal injuries. Cancer and CST
Chemotherapy patients find CST helpful in managing side effectgs of the treatment such as nausea, agitation of the central nervous system and assists with pain management. Description of the Treatment Process
Each therapy session takes between 30 to 45 minutes. You should wear loosely fitting clothing for comfort. Low lighting and gentle background music in the private treatment room create an atmosphere for your total relaxation. As the treatment begins, you will be covered with a light blanket as you lie face up on the treatment table. To begin the session Jim will gently hold your head to evaluate your cranial pulse. Using approximately 5 grams of pressure -- the weight of a nickel -- Jim will then bring your cranial sacral system into balance and slow it to a "still point." As described above, this is a place where your central nervous system is at a lull or point of little agitation. If you are receiving Deep Peace Therapy, Jim will then use his finger tips to gently follow the natural expansion and relaxation of your occipital lobe to instill an even deeper level of quiet and calm.
